One of the nine centres
The Root centre
Pressure to get moving. Adrenaline, stress, hurry.
How it works
It is a pressure centre and a motor at once, at the base of the whole chart. Its pressure comes in waves. Used well, it gets you moving and lets you finish what you started, used badly it pushes you into a rush.
When it is defined
You have your own steady pressure to act and it drives you. The difficulty is telling drive from compulsion.
Stress usually does not freeze you, it mobilises you. You have your own pace, which others may feel as speeding up. It is worth moving when the pressure is there and letting go when it is not.
Is this pressure driving me right now, or pushing me into a rush?
When it is open
The hurry you may feel is most often not yours. The pressure to finish and get it over with comes from outside. Check whose it is before you give in to it.
You recognise well when stress is healthy and when it starts to harm. In calm surroundings you can act very effectively and at your own pace. The trap is living in a constant hurry just to get rid of the tension.
Do I really have to do this now, or do I only want to get rid of the tension?
