One of the twelve profiles

Profile 5/1 · Heretic / Investigator

Consciously you sense other people's expectations, while unconsciously you rest on solid knowledge. That knowledge is what lets the solutions people want from you actually work. In the doctrine this is a profile of a path that touches others: what you do quickly reaches beyond your own life.

Line 5 · Heretic · conscious

The fifth line lives in a field of other people's expectations. The doctrine describes it as someone others project a hope onto: that they hold a practical solution that will work for them too. When the solution fits, reputation grows. When the expectation was unrealistic from the start, the projection can turn around, so this line is careful about what it agrees to.

As your conscious line it brings a familiar feeling: people arrive with a problem before they know you, and it is worth weighing which expectations you take on and which you leave with their owners.

Line 1 · Investigator · unconscious

In Human Design doctrine the first line is the foundation. Solid ground here comes from knowledge: before you take a step you want to know what you are standing on, and you feel most secure once a subject has been studied to the bottom. Insecurity tends to signal that something is still unknown, not that something is wrong with you.

As your unconscious line it works without your involvement. Others see steadiness in you and knowledge they can lean on, while you may only notice that you feel uneasy without proper preparation.
