One of the twelve profiles

Profile 4/1 · Opportunist / Investigator

Consciously you build through people, while unconsciously you stand on a strong foundation of knowledge. The doctrine describes this profile as the only one with a fixed geometry: the path here is clear and hard to leave. Its strength lies in walking it consistently rather than adapting to others.

Line 4 · Opportunist · conscious

The fourth line builds on the people it already knows. According to the doctrine, opportunities come through acquaintances, friends and a close circle rather than through strangers. This line needs a stable base before it moves on, and it has the strongest influence on those it shares trust with.

As your conscious line it shows how much your bonds matter: you work most easily where you know the people, and it is hard to leave something before you know where to go next.

Line 1 · Investigator · unconscious

In Human Design doctrine the first line is the foundation. Solid ground here comes from knowledge: before you take a step you want to know what you are standing on, and you feel most secure once a subject has been studied to the bottom. Insecurity tends to signal that something is still unknown, not that something is wrong with you.

As your unconscious line it works without your involvement. Others see steadiness in you and knowledge they can lean on, while you may only notice that you feel uneasy without proper preparation.
