One of the twelve profiles

Profile 1/3 · Investigator / Martyr

Consciously you want to understand and study before you move, while unconsciously you learn by colliding with reality. Knowledge and experience check each other here: what has been studied goes to the test, and what did not work goes back to study. In the doctrine this is a profile of a personal path, where you learn most from your own life.

Line 1 · Investigator · conscious

In Human Design doctrine the first line is the foundation. Solid ground here comes from knowledge: before you take a step you want to know what you are standing on, and you feel most secure once a subject has been studied to the bottom. Insecurity tends to signal that something is still unknown, not that something is wrong with you.

As your conscious line it is easy to recognise: a need to understand before starting, and trust in what you have checked for yourself.

Line 3 · Martyr · unconscious

The third line learns through experience. The doctrine calls it trial and error: you test things in practice, run into what does not work, and that is exactly how you know what does. A collision here is a discovery rather than a failure, and the ability to get back up after it is one of this line's greatest strengths.

As your unconscious line the trials seem to happen on their own. Plans change on the move, bonds form and dissolve, and only with time does it show how much knowledge remained.
