Gate 34 · Might

An engine running at full power when something truly moves you. The work flows then, and tiredness comes late.

What it is like

You have a lot of strength when you do what your body says "yes" to. This energy is yours, and it flows best where something feels alive to you. Pulled into other people's plans, it can quickly go out.

When someone close has it

This person can get a huge amount done when something really draws them in. Leave room for their answer instead of assuming they'll take the task on.

A question for today

What does my body say "yes" to today, and what is only my head saying yes to?

The six lines of gate 34

  1. Line 1 · Premature Strength

This line feels its power from the very bottom, before it has firm ground beneath it. From the inside it looks like an urge to set off at once, before you understand whether this matter is really yours. When strength rushes ahead without support, it is easy to spend it on something that does not belong to you, and then it is better to stand still for a while and check what you are standing on.

  2. Line 2 · Quiet Advantage

This line has a power it does not need to show anyone, and it works best when you simply do your own thing. Others see how easily it comes to you and try to call it out, inviting you into their affairs. It can happen that the strength then starts flowing towards other people's goals and suddenly goes out, returning only when you are busy with what is yours again.

  3. Line 3 · Hedged Horns

This line tests its power in collision, because only resistance shows it how much strength it has. In everyday life this means you learn from the obstacles you run into and from the ones you get stuck in up to your ears. When strength drives you into every wall in turn, it is easy to get tangled in matters that are hard to get out of, and then it is worth asking whether this wall is yours at all.

  4. Line 4 · Cleared Passage

This line uses its power in a way that makes obstacles open up, because it works among people who know it and trust it. From the inside you feel you are moving things forward like the axle of a large wagon, steadily and without jolts, and your friends gladly ride along. When you start pulling for everyone at once, it is easy to lose sight of what was yours, and then the strength fades before anyone notices.

  5. Line 5 · Easy Loss

This line can let go of force once it is no longer needed, and it does so without regret. Others often see you as someone who will settle a difficult matter, so they expect a show of strength, and you resolve it simply by giving the force up. When expectations run high, it is easy to disappoint those who wanted a spectacle, even though letting go can be the most practical move in the whole situation.

  6. Line 6 · Stalled Force

This line looks at its own power from a distance, because it knows well how pushing blindly tends to end. Over the years you learn that strength can wedge you in so that there is no movement forward or back, and that the way out begins with admitting that things are hard. It can happen that before this maturity arrives, a lot of energy goes into thrashing in place.
