Gate 15 · Extremes

The gate of a changing rhythm. Some days everything happens at once, other days almost nothing, and both can be natural.

What it is like

Your rhythm swings more than other people's and is hard to fit into someone else's schedule. You easily make room for different people and different paces, and the middle of the road tires you more than the extremes.

When someone close has it

For someone with this gate, a lot can happen one day and almost nothing the next, and neither is a problem. Try not to judge them by a single day.

A question for today

When does my plan for the day clash with someone else's rhythm, and who gives way?

The six lines of gate 15

  1. Line 1 · Modest Start

This line looks for a steady rhythm in a life that naturally swings between extremes. Before you cross wide water, you want to know what you will lean on, so you start low and modestly, without big announcements. In daily life it looks like small habits that hold your day together. Sometimes the attempt to put everything in order tires you more than the changeability that order is meant to tame.

  2. Line 2 · Audible Measure

You carry a wide measure of things without effort, and it can be heard before you say anything, like a voice carried across a valley. You do not plan it, you simply live in your rhythm, and others sense in it something they lack and come for it. You do best when nobody tries to trim you to the average. When people start calling on you too often, it is easy to lose your own rhythm to other people's expectations.

  3. Line 3 · Unsung Toil

Here the extreme learns through work, sometimes too much, sometimes too little, until you find your own measure. You throw all your strength into something, then let go completely, and from these swings you draw knowledge no plan gives. You do a lot without applause, and that is your way. When recognition is missing for too long, it is easy to overstate your contribution, although the work speaks for itself.

  4. Line 4 · Many Rhythms

This line brings its wide measure into the circle of people it knows and spreads it there. You can adjust to the different rhythms of those close to you while leaving them room for their own extremes. Friends feel at ease with you because you do not judge their pace. Sometimes you adjust to other people's rhythms so much that your own drops out of sight.

  5. Line 5 · Bold Correction

Here others see you as someone who will restore balance where everything has tipped over. You can gather people around a cause without having power over them, and when needed, firmly correct the course. Your solutions are practical and suit many groups. When expectations grow, it is easy to take on responsibility for other people's excess and collect criticism for a correction that was asked for earlier.

  6. Line 6 · Order at Home

This line looks from a distance at its own extremes and starts putting things in order with itself, not with others. Over the years you learn that a wide measure needs clear boundaries in your own home, and you live so that it shows how this works. People learn from you by watching how you reconcile changeability with order. Sometimes this strictness towards yourself spills over onto others and distance begins to look like coldness.
