Gate 14 · Power Skills
Fuel for work. Energy grows with what really matters and drains away on other people's goals.
What it is like
When you follow your own direction, you have plenty of strength for work. With someone else's plan, even a sensible one, the energy can vanish, and that isn't about discipline.
When someone close has it
This person brings a lot of strength to shared work when the direction feels right to them. Ask whether they feel like doing something, rather than handing them ready-made tasks.
A question for today
What do I have energy for today, and what am I doing only out of duty?
The six lines of gate 14
Line 1 · Clean Fuel
This line checks what is worth spending strength on before anything begins. You keep away from matters that pull you into someone else's direction, and you want to know where you stand before you move. On an ordinary day it looks like a pause before agreeing to a new project. Sometimes this care weighs the risk so long that the energy waits idle, although it has somewhere to flow.
Line 2 · Roomy Wagon
Strength for work comes to you naturally, like a wagon that carries more than it seems. You do not need to warm up, it is enough that the direction is yours, and the load settles along the way. Others see this capacity and call on you to carry something before you have had time to think about it. When they load their own matters onto you, it is easy to drive somewhere foreign just because the wagon is strong.
Line 3 · Fruits Given Away
Here energy learns from whom you give it to. You put strength into someone else's goal, see whether anything comes back, and over time learn the difference between sharing and giving yourself away. Some of these attempts end in disappointment, and they teach you the most. When you care about recognition, it is easy to hand over the fruits of your work where nobody values them, and only afterwards does it show that the direction belonged to someone else.
Line 4 · Quiet Reserve
This line does not show all its strength and works through the people it knows. You have more resources than can be seen, and you use them quietly, where those close to you really need it, without making a show of it. Friends know they can count on you. Sometimes you hold this reserve so tightly that it is hard to spend it even on your own direction, because it always seems too early.
Line 5 · Returned Trust
Here others see your strength as an answer to their own needs and hope you will share it. You can set a matter up so that people return your trust, and then energy circulates among everyone instead of only flowing from you. Your solutions are practical and fit many places. When expectations outgrow what you have, it is easy to take on a superior tone or to hear that you give too little.
Line 6 · Wind at Your Back
This line looks from a distance at how strength flows when the direction is right, as if something were pushing from behind. Over the years you understand that things go best when you do not claim all the credit, and you live so that others can see it. Your life teaches that energy has a source beyond effort too. Sometimes, when the wind drops, it is hard to move on your own and you wait for a sign that need not come.
